Catherine Nicholas, Managing Partner and Chief Investment Officer, co-founded Nicholas Investment Partners in March 2006. Catherine is the lead portfolio manager for most of the firm’s equity strategies and the back-up portfolio manager for convertible strategies. She is a generalist in research coverage by sector. Catherine previously served as the Global Chief Investment Officer of Nicholas-Applegate Capital Management (NACM) until the firm’s sale to Allianz in January 2001. After the firm’s sale, Catherine served on the NACM Executive Committee and the Allianz Dresdner Asset Management US Equity Committee for two years. Catherine joined NACM in 1987 as an analyst and was quickly promoted to lead Portfolio Manager of US Small Cap and Micro Cap Growth, which she managed for ten years. Catherine concurrently served for six years as head of US Equity and helped develop the firm’s global investment platform in developed international and emerging markets. In 1997, was promoted to Global Chief Investment Officer, responsible for the firm’s investment teams including US, International, Emerging Markets, Systematic Equity, Convertibles and High Yield; she was the architect of the Global Equity, Global Select, Global Small Cap, Global Healthcare and Global Tech strategies. Previously, Catherine was Vice President at Professional Asset Securities and served as a research analyst at Pacific Century Advisors. Catherine currently serves on the Board of Directors of the American Quarter Horse Foundation, The Boys and Girls Club of Douglas, Wyoming and the National Cowgirl Museum & Hall of Fame. She previously served on the advisory board of the USC Marshall School of Business, the Board of Directors for Francis Parker School, Scripps Hospital and the San Diego County YMCA and investment committee of Rady Children's Hospital. She earned her B.S. in Business Administration, cum laude, and her M.B.A. in Finance from the University of Southern California. Catherine has over 35 years of investment experience.
